NO HAUS LIKE BAU AT HAU – PIL & GALIA KOLLECTIV, LONDON |
14 JUNE 2008 / 19.30 UHR / HAU 1
In the Russian constructivist theatre of the 1920s the “industrial man” was depicted as part of a biometric symbiosis with the factory. “No Haus Like Bau” asks what will happen to this over-identification with the system in the time after the industrial fabrication: What would it mean with regard to the flexible ideology of the late capitalism? In the employment-model of a post-ford creative industry, where the borderlines between profession and leisure become blurred, criticism about the mechanization of work becomes ineffective. In a stage set made up of flatpack-furniture and with eight amateur actors, accompanied with live music by Steven Kado, this play, especially created for the 5th berlin biennale, explores the instrumentalisation of creativity during immaterial work and its dependence on the virtuosity of the worker, a permanent performance of the own personality.
Organized in the context of ‘Mes nuits sont plus belles que vos jours’, the 5th nocturnal part of the 5th berlin biennale for contemporary art.
