> Als krönender Abschluß des »Festival of Vision. Hongkong–Berlin« des Hauses der Kulturen der Welt kommt die Oper »Four Grand Inventions« in unserem Haus zur Aufführung: Papier, Drucktechnik, Kompaß und Schießpulver sind die großen Erfindungen Chinas. Aus dieser Thematik hat die Künstlergruppe Zuni Icosahedron eine Multimedia-Show entwickelt.
Zuni Icosahedron ist die wichtigste zeitgenössische Theaterkompanie in Hongkong. Von der Architektur und den visuellen Künsten kommend, hat der Leiter der Gruppe, Danny Yung, eine Theatersprache erarbeitet, die alle Medien einbezieht: Film, Video, Raum- und Lichtinszenierungen gehören ebenso dazu wie Stimme und Bewegung. Entstanden ist eine eindrucksvolle zeitgenössische Performance, die zum einen in der Tradition der Pekingoper steht, sich zugleich aber radikal zur Avantgarde bekennt.

group Zuni Icosahedron has developed a multimedia show based upon these subjects. Zuni Icosahedron is the most important contemporary theater company in Hongkong. The leader, Danny Yung, who originally worked with architecture and the visual arts, has created a theater language which is open to all media: Film, video, spatial and lighting productions are just as much a part of it as voice and movement. The result is an impressive contemporary performance which stands in the tradition of the Peking Opera and, at the same time, radically professes its commitment to the avant-garde.
