> »N.Y.– N.Y. ist ein Ort, an dem alles Neue, Unruhige, Spannende früher zu spüren ist als anderswo, eine Stadt der endlosen, stets verwirrenden Brüche, eine große Bühne des Bizarren und Ungewöhnlichen«.
Zusammen mit dem Regisseur und Bühnenbildner Helmut Danninger entwickelt das Modern String Quartet seine ganz besondere Interpretationsweise weiter in Richtung inszenierter Bühnendarstellung. Stillhalten auf der Bühne, braves Exerzieren der Musik ist nichts für sie. Es entstehen surreale Bilder der Nicht-Kommunikation, wie sie z. B. Paul Delvaux auf die Leinwand brachte. Heute sind sie einzigartig: ein inszeniertes Streichquartett, eine neue Dimension in der Geschichte des Streichquartetts.
> Together with the director and stage designer Helmut Danninger, the musicians have developed their own particular form of interpretation, one which moves further in the direction of staged theatrical representation. Sitting still on the stage or quietly practicing music is not their thing. Surrealistic images of non-communication emerge, similar to those presented on the screen by Paul Delvaux.
