> Carles Santos, der als Pianist, und seit 1978 insbesondere mit seinen musiktheatralischen Werken bekannt wurde, hat in seiner Musik und in seinen Aufführungen, in denen er auf vielfältige Weise als Interpret auftritt, einen unverwechselbaren Stil entwickelt, den man als »Romantischen Minimalismus« bezeichnen kann. In »Ricardo i Elena« – die Namen seiner Eltern – benutzt Santos Erinnerungen aus seinem Leben, ohne dabei ein autobiographisches Stück oder eine Familiengeschichte zu erzählen. Wie immer interessiert ihn die Musik selbst. Die Sprache, die er hier benutzt, ein erfundenes fantastisches Latein, klingt auch für katalanische Ohren bizarr. Die großartigen Sänger, Spieler und Akrobaten faszinieren und begeistern in diesem Spiel, in dem Carles Santos selbst mit bissiger Ironie die Fäden in der Hand behält.
