British Shorts Film Festival

Festival Opening, Film Screenings and Concert by La Tourette

Even (and especially) in the year of the looming Brexit, British Shorts provides a platform for film perspectives outside the mainstream, bringing internationally prize-winning short films to Berlin’s screens. The festival includes numerous world and German premieres – from drama, comedy, animation, documentary, experimental film, music video, thriller to horror. As part of the festival opening at HAU2 the nominations for the jury award will be presented, as well as a cross-section featuring works from all the genres.

Following the opening screening we are celebrating the start into an exciting week of films with a concert by La Tourette. The two musicians are both familiar from earlier incarnations: Pianist and singer Tonia Reeh created unique artful noise as Monotekktoni, and under her given name she released impressive albums such as “Boykiller.” Rudi Fischerlehner has already played drums in so many groups that it’s hard to keep track. Their first joint album “The Great Mickey Mouse Swindle” (solaris empire) is just teeming with rapid changes in tempo and style.

“Demanding, pressing, impatient. That is, urgently necessary in the midst of wishy-washy wellness pop.” (Christina Mohr, Kaputt Mag).
