NORDWIND

Platform and Festival for the Arts from the Nordic and Baltic Countries / guest event at HAU

During the NORDWIND festival, artists from Northern Europe will present their multifaceted works from the areas of theatre, performance, music, dance, and visual art. Choreographer Mart Kangro gets the festival started with his solo “waiting for tomorrow”, while “Stalker” lures the audience into the ‘zone’; a place where all desires – whether conscious or not – are fulfilled. In “idem (was wir sind),” Julian Klein and his collaborators from the artists group “a rose is” develop a test arrangement for theatre, and Margrét Sara Gudjónsdóttir examines the different variations of proximity between individual and observer. Electro-pop queen Sandra Kolstad and the garage rock band MANKIND will see to the musical elements of the festival. Other highlights include a new version of the production “Die europäischen Medien,” Oskaras Koršunovas’ “Nachtasyl” and the choral project “Complaints Choir”. In “Change of Hope” Valters Sīlis reflects on the political and social influence of the ‘90s, and in “TRAVAIL” Alma Söderberg links up a fascinating kind of sound, language and movement, while Oblivia critically scrutinizes the entertainment industry. “Rave – The Party Simulator” extends an invitation to an artistic party situation at Ritter Butzke, and the impressive works by the painter Kalervo Palsa will be shown for the first time in Germany at Kunstquartier Bethanien. In addition, there is a block of panels on the topic “Critical perspectives on European identities” and both literature and football fans will get their money’s worth at a reading (“Ich bin Zlatan”).

Co-produktion: HAU Hebbel am Ufer, Kampnagel and Festspielhaus Hellerau Europäisches Zentrum der Künste. NORDWIND ist funded by Hauptstadtkulturfonds, the Nordic Embassies, Kulturrådet, the norwegian and icelandic Ministries of Foreign Affairs and many more.
