machina eX

Biography

machina eX has explored the boundaries between game and theatre since 2010. In doing so, traversable computer games have been created that are simultaneously performable theater productions - both in analogue as well as digital spaces. Since its founding, the collective has developed over thirty live games and digital projects in the German-speaking world and beyond. The most recent productions are the classroom piece “setup.school(). Die Lernmaschine” (2021) in co-production with Landesbühne Sachsen and Theater Baden-Baden as well as the living room adventure “Homecoming” (2020) in collaboration with HAU, FFT Düsseldorf and Hellerau. An open source tool kit for digital-analogue theatre productions is currently being developed in the project “MACHINA COMMONS”. machina eX received the Tabori Prize from Fonds darstellende Künste in 2019. The collective has received Concept Funding from Berlin’s Senate Department for Culture and Europe since 2020.

As part of Berlin Mondiale machina eX developed artistic workshops.
