Taoufiq Izeddiou

Biography

Taoufiq Izeddiou studied architecture was active in boxing and in theatre before he began working in the area of dance. After his training in classical and jazz dance at the Institut Français de Marrakech he discovered his interest in contemporary dance.

In 2003 Izeddiou, together with Bouchra Ouizguen and Said Aït El Moumen, founded Morocco’s first contemporary dance group Cie Anania. Also in 2003, he founded Al-Mokhtabar, a contemporary dance programme in Marrakesh, and in 2008 On Marche, the city’s first international dance festival. In 2007 Taoufiq Izeddiou got his state diploma in contemporary dance in France and has been working since then between Europe and Morocco. His productions, such as “Aaleef” (2011) or “Rev’Illusion” (2013), have toured at festivals and theatres worldwide.
