HAU Hebbel am Ufer stands for open discussion, linking artistic positions with the city and its inhabitants. It can be seen as a kind of laboratory, combining global contexts and artistic forms of expression with the questions confronting a changing urban society.

Especially in these socially and politically challenging times, HAU Hebbel am Ufer is convinced of the potential that comes from the intersection of art and society. Through its Outreach Programme HAU brings people together in discussion. The goal is to create sites where we can get acquainted with one another, to bring together knowledge and expertise from a variety of areas, and to facilitate new and unfamiliar perspectives for both the audience and the artists.

Our formats

Artist Talks
Moderated Artist Talks with artists and experts are regularly organised after performances. These talks draw on various aspects of the performance, and the audience is invited to join in the discussion. They are announced in the programme, and admission is free.

On request will are also happy to organize introductions for groups, oriented to their particular interests. We can offer insights into the structure and programme of HAU, talk about the contents and concepts of the various productions, or facilitate discussions with curators and artists.

On request we offer workshops, discussions and interactive formats oriented to the forms and context of the artistic works, providing space for the exchange of ideas and questions. These formats are geared toward the interests of the group, are longer and more concentrated than introductions, and expand the programme beyond attending a performance.

Guided Tours
Depending on capacity we can offer tours as a way to get to know our programme, providing insights into the stagecraft, architecture and history of HAU Hebbel am Ufer.
