Marlene Monteiro Freitas

De marfim e carne - as estátuas também sofrem / Of ivory and flesh - statues also suffer

  • Dance
80min

Seven statues fallen out of time wake up to a new life on stage. They move mechanically to the music of cymbals and the trace beats of Omar Souleyman and try to transform into humans. In this ball of stone characters, Marlene Monteiro Freitas uses physical dynamics and daring metamorphoses to create a fascinating baroque-burlesque aesthetic of surreal beauty.  Trailer
