Kornél Mundruczó’s adaptation of J.M. Coetzee’s novel “Disgrace” works with the drastic images of a theater-reality show. The director illuminates current shifts in power on the political map, transferring the events from South Africa to Europe from his Hungarian perspective – “as a parable of the questions of being European, of the general fears and problems on our continent, which is so visibly facing great upheavals.”
