Brian Shimkovitz has been archiving and digitizing treasures of music from cassette for many years, making this otherwise lost music available on his blog Awesome Tapes From Africa. He then started his own label under the same name with an album from the ‘80s by Nahawa Doumbia. In her intense refrains Doumbia spreads feminist messages and takes a position on social issues. She now appears in Berlin for the first time.
