Nature Theater of Oklahoma

Life and Times - Episodes 1-5

From a telephone conversation with Kristin Worrall

  • Performance
780 min / 13 h five intermissions including American Barbecue

Kristin Worrall needed 16 hours and ten telephone calls to tell her memories of childhood and youth. The current marathon by the New York theater collective comes to 13 hours, and if you include Episode 6, it gets up to 15. The monumental epic is an invitation to identification: narrative time becomes real time, and the average American life becomes one’s own realm of experience. The New York performers have constantly put themselves into impossible situations with their work, having to work from out of their own ignorance and unease. “We strive to create an unsettling live situation that demands total presence from everyone in the room.”
