THE RITE OF SPRING

Theatre

German / ca. 120 min

The performers of She She Pop bring Stravinsky’s “THE RITE OF SPRING” and their own mothers together in a performance. The central issue is the female sacrifice in the family and in society. She She Pop superimpose the religious sphere, the locale of the ritual human sacrifice from “THE RITE OF SPRING,” with the ethical question of personal abdication between women and men as well as between mothers and daughters. In contrast to the community that assembles for the spring sacrifice in Stravinsky, there is by no means unquestioned unity among She She Pop and the mothers. Who or what should be offered up as a sacrifice to whom, and what sense a sacrifice could have at all– these central questions must be unavoidably integrated into the course of the ritual.               Trailer THE RITE OF SPRING as performed by She She Pop and theirs mothers (via vimeo)
