Berlin Art Week Special

Retrospective Miet Warlop

On the occasion of Berlin Art Week 2017 HAU Hebbel am Ufer presents a showcase of works by the Belgian artist Miet Warlop. In her performative works Warlop makes visual art using the means of theatre, developing “living images”. These are located somewhere between absurd theatre and outlandish tableaux vivants. The texture of things is central to Warlop’s work, as is creation and destruction against all economic reason. She appeared at HAU for the first time as part of the reopening in November 2012, when she presented performative elements from her production “Mystery Magnet”. In 2015 she returned with “Dragging the Bone”, and most recently in April 2017 with the performance “Fruits of Labor”. For the very first time, the three works that Miet Warlop herself calls “portraits of a decade” can now be seen together in one retropective.
