Angela Richter

Biography

Angela Richter studied theatre directing with Jürgen Flimm at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg and was a member of the artist group Akademie Isotrop from 1996 to 2000. Since 2001 she's worked as a director and in 2006 founded Fleestreet Theater in Hamburg, which she was the head of until 2010. Her works have been presented all throughout Europe: "Jeff Koons" (2008) by Rainald Goetz at HAU Hebbel am Ufer Berlin, "Der Fall Esra" (2009) based on the banned novel "Esra" by Maxim Biller at Kampnagel Hamburg, "Vive la Crise" (2019) at Garage X Theater Petersplatz in Vienna, "Tod in Theben" (2010) by Jon Fosse at the Salzburger Festspielen, "Liebe Deinen Untergang" (2010) at Theater Oberhausen, "Berghain Boogie Woogie" (2011) at HAU Hebbel am Ufer in Berlin, "Leiwand Empire" (2011) at Garage X Vienna. She received the Rolf-Mares-Price in 2009 for her staging of "Der Fall Esra". Since July 2011 Angela Richter has been focusing on Wikileaks and Hacktivism on the net and met with Julian Assange and other hackers many times, in order to do research for "Assassinate Assange" (Kampnagel Hamburg und brut Wien).
