Keith Hennessy / Circo Zero

Biography

Keith Hennessy (*1959 in Canada) is a performer, choreographer, teacher and activist. He currently lives in San Francisco and shows his works all over the world. In 2001 he initiated Circo Zero, a team made up of dancers, musicians, visual artists, circus performers, and performance artists. Circo Zero takes part both locally and globally in the battle for equality and functions as a collective space and public laboratory for spiritual, artistic, sexual and political questions. Keith Hennessy & Circo Zero have put on hundreds of events in the Bay Area and worldwide, for which they have received the following awards: a United States Kjenner Fellowship, a “New York Bessie Award”, two “Isadora Duncan Dance Awards”, a “Goldie”, residencies at the artist colonies McDowell, Djerassi & Yaddo. They have also been commissioned by the National Dance Project, RADAR, L’Arsenic in Lausanne and the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, San Francisco.
