Lea Martini

Biography

Lea Martini, who was born in 1979, trained as a dancer in Berlin and studied choreography and performance in Arnhem and Amsterdam. In her work she reuses identity-forming images, explores the impact they have in the context of mass media and turns them into a bodilyexperience. She is closely connected to the director Johan Forsman and the choreographer Noha Ramadan and created “Black Spaghetti” in collaboration with them. As founder and member of the performance collective White Horse she performed under Christoph Leuenberger’s direction. Their new production "Romance" premiered in Amsterdam in the autumn of 2012. Using film material from classic romantic films she tries to stage a bodily declaration of love to the audience. As a dancer she worked with Christof Winkler, Jess Curtis, Yvonne Hardt and Norberto Llopis. She has also developed a number of choreographic solo works such as "Identity Sucks". She created "Memor I Am" during Tanztage Berlin and will continue to focus on the same topic during her research project in Neuss.
