Oliver Frljić

Biography

 

Oliver Frljić (*1976, Travnik, Bosnia-Herzegovina) is a director, writer and actor and until recently was the artistic director of the Croatian National Theatre in Rijeka. In his often controversial plays Frljić points out the blind spots and festering wounds in society. His main topics include the war in Yugoslavia and fascist tendencies in contemporary Europe. The director has won numerous awards for plays such as

"Turbo-Folk", "Mrzim istinu!", "Zoran Đinđić" or "Aleksandra Zec", which have been invited to many international festivals. The last of these was seen at HAU Hebbel am Ufer in 2015. "Our Violence is Your Violence" was a commissioned work for the festival "The Aesthetics of Resistance – Peter Weiss 100" by HAU Hebbel am Ufer. Oliver Frljic also directs in German-speaking countries, including at the Residenztheater in Munich and at the Schauspielhaus Graz.
