Tucké Royale

Biography

Tucké Royale is a performer, director, writer and musician. His solo works “Tucké Royale” and “Ich beiße mir auf die Zunge und frühstücke den Belag, den meine Rabeneltern mir hinterlassenlassen” (“I bite my tongue and eat the topping my cruel parents left me) have been shown internationally, and he also works regularly with the performance collectives Talking Straight and Gintersdorfer/Klaßen. With the latter, Royale has appeared at HAU Hebbel am Ufer in 2016 with “Der Botschafter” (“The Ambassador”), followed by a performance in 2019 as part of “Manifestos for Queer Futures”. That summer, on the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall riots, Royale staged a motorcade through the Uckermark region with Johannes Maria Schmit, Schuldenberg Films and a queer holographic family of 60 participants. This action resulted in the project “Stonewall Uckermark” at HAU as well as the film Neubau, which won the 41st Max Ophüls Prize in 2020. Royale has been a band member of Hans Unstern since 2012, and in 2016 Royale and Unstern founded BOIBAND along with Black Cracker.
