Valérie Castan

Biography

Valérie Castan studied for two years as a dancer at the CNDC (Centre National de Danse Contemporaine) in Angers between 1986 and 1888. Her work as a performing artist was established through different performance experiences with various choreographers. Amongst others she works often with Berlin based choreographer Antonia Baehr. For Baehr´s works Castan performed in "Un Après-Midi" (An Afternoon) in 2005 in Paris and in a duo work "Merci" in 2006. Her further engagement in Antonia Baehr´s work has led her to an involvement as an assistant choreographer and coach for Baehr´s solo “Laugh” in 2008 and as an assistant dramatist in "My Dog is My Piano" in 2012. In 2013 Castan took part in Baehr´s work "Abecedarium Bestiarium" as an artistic collaboration, which was also presented in HAU Hebbel am Ufer. Allongside, since 2012 Valérie Castan audio describes choreographic works for public with visual deficiencies.
