Zola Jesus

Biography

Zola Jesus is the stage name of Russian American singer-songwriter Nika Roza Danilova. Born in 1989, she was raised in Wisconsin on over 100 acres of forest. At the age of 16 she started recording her own music. Since then she has released four EPs and four full-length albums, combining her operatic voice with noise, wave, indutrial and gothic influences. Her latest album „Versions“ was released in August 2013. Zola Jesus gains inspiration not only from her musical idols like Joy Division or The Residents but also from her experiences reading Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and Dostojewski.
