Eleven Years of Houseclub

Die Jugend von heute

The Houseclub is eleven years old! This fantastic space for artistic exploration and experimentation by, with and for young people is something we're celebrating as part of “Berlin bleibt! #4”. To do so, we will dig deep into the box, pull out at what's been forgotten and look into the future. Artists, partners and students who have been with us for years are all invited. To develop the programme, we have enlisted the support of the culture class at the Fritz Karsen School, which has also proclaimed the motto “Die Jugend von heute” (“The Youth of Today”). The linchpin of the anniversary will be an exhibition in the Houseclub. We are also celebrating two premieres: A HAU360° virtual reality tour is being created under the direction of Mehmet Can Kocak and the culture class at the Fritz Karsen School. Cennet Alkan, Huda El-Sharkawy and class 9B1 of the Hector Peterson School are turning into activists. With the revival of “Synthetic Youth” by Rabea Kiel, Vincent Kaufman and Matthias Meppelink, we will champion our partner class of the Hector Peterson School one last time. Companions old and new will take part in the talk “Was darf, kann, sollte, könnte, will der Houseclub sein?” (“What may, can, should, could, will the Houseclub be?”) As a finale, we will present a newcomer battle at Mehringplatz  under the direction of Tierstar Andrez and the KMA.

Part of “Berlin bleibt #4 − Treffpunkt Mehringplatz”, a HAU Hebbel am Ufer festival.
