Olad Aden

Biography

Olad Aden is an Afro-German-American social worker living in Berlin. He founded and runs a number of exchange programmes for young people, including the “BronxBerlinConnection”. In addition he has curated several cultural projects. For instance, in 2010 he co-curated “Translating Hip Hop” for the Haus der Kulturen der Welt. Furthermore, working with the Literaturwerkstatt Berlin he initiated and co-curated the literature and hip hop project “SPOKEN WOR:L:DS”, which created an exchange between Berlin and Nairobi. Recently he finished a project at DExZA, a performative exchange programme between Johannesburg and Berlin with a focus on poetry, rap and music. The project, initiated by the association No Boundaries, was supported by the Heinrich Böll Foundation as well as by the Goethe Institut and the German Consulate in South Africa.
