The 17th ALFILM “Spotlight, ‘Sudan: New Projections – Retrospectives, Revolutions, and Restorations’”, curated by Sudanese producer and Sudan Film Factory founder Talal Afifi, focuses on contemporary Sudanese filmmaking in dialogue with restored archival works and artistic interventions. The programme reflects on cinema as a site of remembering, resistance, and imagination, tracing the transformations of Sudanese cinema shaped by revolution, exile, and resilience.

Masterclasses, panel discussions, Film Talks and special screenings round off the varied programme of the 17th festival edition. The opening ceremony as well as the opening of the Spotlight programme in addition to other screenings and special events will take place in HAU Hebbel am Ufer.
