“Aurora” is based on interviews and conversations that director Adrian Figueroa carried out with drug users, those close to them and their therapists. Medially hallucinated life realities collide with a completely ritualized delusion with self-empowering overdose, familial co-dependence and penetrating helper syndrome. Who here is dependent on whom or on what, but above all why and how? The case studies and statements by those interviewed provide exhilarating answers and pose sober questions: How does one practice sterile mental hygiene? Are there capsules to take against feeling ashamed for others? Where do congestion-resistant data paths lead to in the brain? “Aurora” – Figueroa’s second HAU co-production after “Stress” – is an attempt to get to a state between delirium and the ordinary, between therapy and interrogation, between dream and reality, lies and truth.
