Even when we sleep, we transmit data. We are surrounded by systems that count, catalogue, compare and calculate us. Algorithmic oracles promise security and provide control. But what myths surround these systems? The performance “LORECORE” is a live-generated video essay brought to life by three performers and a robot cat. It deals with the logic and functioning of techno-fascism. What synergies arise from the convergence of the tech industry and the New Right?

“LORECORE” delves into the abysmal depths of myth-making surrounding US tech companies and looks into the reflective surfaces that surround us to see what is not even hidden. We gather to witness the fading dreams of the old internet and the rise of techno-fascism. In doing so, Berlin-based artist Anan Fries and team not only reveal the connections between economic and political power, but also delve into the mystical spheres of the digital world, including the omnipresent self-promotion of Big Tech entrepreneurs as kings of a future authoritarian world.

The title “LORECORE” refers to this self-creation, which marks one’s own position as superior. As a characteristic of today's society with its multiple crises, this is described by author Shumon Basar, who coined the term, when he states that we live in an era “belonging to digital capitalism and characterised by people's existential need to stage themselves, while global narratives collapse in an unprecedented way.”
