In Cairo’s Agouza district, the avant-garde musicians Maurice Louca, Alan Bishop, and Sam Shalabi happened to all live in the same apartment building. After a few sessions together, they joined forces to form The Dwarfs of East Agouza. Since then, they have stood for fascinating and unpredictable trips through free jazz, kraut, Southeast Asian musical traditions, and Egyptian shaabi.
