NFTs: Non Fuckable Tokens

English /  approx. 45 mins.

In “NFTs”, Claudix Vanesix asks from a decolonial, feminist perspective how gender and race characterise our digital lives. The multimedia performance combines indigenous knowledge with visions of the future for humans and machines.

How do gender and race determine our virtual lives? In “NFTs” (actually “non-fungible tokens”: digital assets that cannot be exchanged), Peruvian artist Claudix Vanesix navigates the internet from a decolonial, feminist perspective. Vanesix presents how new narratives can emerge from the knowledge of their ancestors: These enable indigenous identities to develop visions of the future for the connection between human and machine. The result is a dynamic extended reality multimedia experience about power, beauty and sex.
