In 2015, Creamcake brought to HAU music and performance form the internet with the 3hd festival. Now the Berlin-based events organiser announce the second edition of 3hd Festival, running across venues in Berlin from October 11 to 15, 2016.
In anticipation of the five-day program in October, the Pre-3hd Festival Event at Berlin’s HAU Hebbel am Ufer will feature live performances from Taipei based rapper and Grimes-collaborator Aristophanes貍貓, as well as New York based artist-musician Eartheater.
Aristophanes貍貓 is a Taipei-based artist whose colourful and striking use of wordplay and poetry swells through elements of Hip Hop, Slam Poetry, Jazz, Soul and Electronica. She was recently featured on Grimes’ 2015 album release Art Angel for the song ‘SCREAM’, a wild and aggressive 2015 anthem. Eartheater is a New York-based musician and artist. Her distillation of voice, synths, guitar and electronic production techniques create short-form compositions teeming with crystalline detail.
These two powerful women explore a range of genres, sounds, concepts and performative practices through a personal futurism. Supporting the night are Finnish artist AGF and Berlin based producer Dis Fig, who will DJ at HAU restaurant, WAU, to follow.
Meanwhile, 3hd Festival will present a programme of live events and online content in October 2016, featuring performances, talks and an exhibition as well as exclusive projects and interviews online. These aim to give insight into the complex evolution of contemporary music practices through multidisciplinary engagements and the internet. In an age where musicians and producers are challenging ideas of identity, community and power through digitalized personas and politicized music, we are left with the question: Where are we headed?
Creamcake is a regular club night in Berlin, run by founders Daniela Seitz and Anja Weigl since 2011. Together they explore contemporary culture’s most exciting names - from pioneering music producers and DJs to multidisciplinary artists. Through regular events and a community networking, it strives to connect artists and audiences worldwide.
