Haubrok Collection

The Earth, at the same time half as small and twice as large

  • Installation
  • Tanz im August

Entry times: 17:00, 18:00, 19:00, 20:00, 21:00, 22:00

Dance and performance have been present in museums and galleries for a number of years now. Reversing this relationship, Tanz im August is showing contemporary art in the theatre instead of the white cube, and has invited the Haubrok Collection to present work in HAU1. Works by Carol Bove, Olafur Eliasson, Elmgreen and Dragset, Philippe Parreno, Willem de Rooij, Andreas Slominski, Christopher Williams and others will be shown in a one-day exhibition, whose title is taken from a work by Andreas Slominski, The Earth, at the same time half as small and twice as large. According to the collectors, understanding these conceptual pieces requires imagination; they only tell stories if you get involved with them. Axel and Barbara Haubrok have been collecting since 1988, initially painting, but since the turn of the millennium their focus has been on conceptual art. They have presented exhibitions in Berlin since 2005, at first in their home, and from 2007 in a showroom on Strausberger Platz. Since 2013 they have been showing their projects in the FAHRBEREITSCHAFT, the former transport centre of the GDR Council of Ministers in Berlin-Lichtenberg.
