Super naked, super exposed, super shrill. “Super Superficial” addresses the transience of surfaces by bending and breaking them. A performance of movement and sound creates a deceptive image of bodies: they deform, dissolve, merge with each other and with the surfaces and boundaries of the space.
I fake it ergo sum.
“Super Superficial” asks how the gaze on the naked body can be denuded – not by searching for an essence, but through exaggeration, masquerade and the conscious play with identities. Between comedy and rage, attributions from the outside and physical resistance, the performance formulates a powerful, lively response to the relationship with the naked female body in art and society.
“Super Superficial” is about women who decide to do whatever they want.
And some good news for all fans: there will be a new production with Kysy Fischer & ABA NAIA at HAU in the coming season.
Press quotes after the premiere at the Tanztage 2025:
Kysy Fischer was named “Newcomer of the Year” by Elisabeth Nehring in the 2025 yearbook of Tanz magazine: “Kysy Fischer (Berlin) demonstrates a rarely seen feminist humour as a choreographer”.
“A refreshingly sovereign, clever work.” Elena Philipp (Berliner Morgenpost)
“They fracture the hegemonic gaze through hyperproduction, flooding our visual field with their self-representations.” Alice Heyward (Spike Art Magazine)
