Nature Theater of Oklahoma

Life and Times - Episode 1

From a telephone conversation with Kristin Worrall

  • Performance
195 min one intermission

Without a single spoken word, the performers sing and dance through Kristin Worrall’s memories of the time around her birth in the mid-1970s when she was eight years old. The rhythms of the ukulele mould the soundtrack to images and moments from the middle-class memoirs of an average American girl. In “Life and Times – Episode 1,” a co-production with the Vienna Burgtheater, for which the Nature Theater of Oklahoma was invited to Theatertreffen in 2010, the New York company melds conceptual clarity with playful melodies and dance into an extraordinary epic about an ordinary life.

Production: Nature Theaterof Oklahoma and Burgtheater Wien. Coproduction: Kampnagel Hamburg, Kaaitheater (Brüssel), Théâtre de la Ville (Paris), Festival De Internationale Keuze (Rotterdam) and Wexner Center for the Arts / Ohio State University.
