Núria Guiu

Spiritual Boyfriends

English /  55 mins.
One person rolls up yoga mats in a grid. In the background are images of people from pop culture with iconic folded hands.
A person crouching lets a remote-controlled quadro-copter fly.

A solo performance which revolves around yoga as a new form of self-discipline and biopower. Núria Guiu ironically approaches the practice through a visual iconography that creates a bridge between the Indian masters of the late 19th century, contemporary YouTubers, and the Holi festivals. Spirituality becomes flesh and the immaterial is replaced by the virtual; the internet as a new deity which observes from above.
