Mariano Pensotti

Cineastas / Filmemacher

120 min

While the theatre per se is a transitory art, film directors usually want to hold on to their time and their experience for all eternity. The Argentine playwright and director Mariano Pensotti is bringing a project about four filmmakers to the stage. It is about the films that they are working on, the lives that they live during this time, and about the city where all these stories take place and in which they are reflected. Buenos Aires, a unique city full of extreme contrasts, is very present here. Its inhabitants seem to like to pretend that they are something other than what they are. Five actors in numerous roles tell all of this simultaneously. What emerges is a virtuoso film-theatre – entirely with out using any of the technology of film production.

Co-production: Grupo Marea, Complejo Teatral de Buenos Aires, Kunstenfestivaldesarts (Brussels), Wiener Festwochen, HAU Hebbel am Ufer (Berlin), Holland Festival, Theaterformen (Hannover), Festival d’Automne (Paris)
