Manuel Pelmuş

Preview / Solo-Lecture-Performance

  • Performance
45 min.

In his critically acclaimed solo piece “preview” from 2007, Manuel Pelmuş’ presence is only discernible through his voice, which describes movements made by the body from behind a veil of darkness. His speech revolves around elementary questions pertaining to the boundaries of the visible body. Here, the boundaries between live performance and audio installation grow hazy, in favour of an altered hierarchy of the senses: ears ahead of eyes. Ten years later, for “Violence of Inscriptions”, “preview” will be presented in a new version, revisiting its initial premises and further reflecting on aspects related to today’s economy of presence, value production, strategies of disappearance, and the politics involved in the ‘performative’ within today’s economy of experience and hyper-mediated society.
