For their 2005 work “A Love Supreme” Salva Sanchis and Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker took their inspiration from a classic of jazz music. The album with this name by John Coltrane was released in 1965 at the peak of his career, and is considered one of the best jazz albums of all time. Just as Coltrane opened himself up to free jazz, De Keersmaeker, who had previously moved in strict structures, ventured into the field of improvisation. In 2017, twelve years later, De Keersmaeker and Sachis come back to their earlier work, reshaping it for a new generation of male dancers. Their energetic interpretation mirrors the continued vitality of Coltrane’s music.
