Tino Sehgal (DE | GB)

(ohne Titel) (2000) getanzt von Andrew Hardwidge

  • Tanz im August

Marking the 25th anniversary of Tanz im August, we are presenting one of Tino Sehgal's early works, (untitled) (2000). An artist and choreographer, Sehgal became famous on the international stage for his artistically designed 'constructed situations,' which combine movement with conversations and vocalizations. In addition to solo exhibitions at the Tate Modern and the Guggenheim Museum in New York, his works have been displayed in a variety of locations, including the documenta XIII, and the Venice Biennale in 2013, at which he won a coveted Leone d'Oro. 13 years ago, Sehgal himself performed (untitled) (2000). The piece could be considered a 'Dance Museum' made flesh, physically present on the stage. It marks the transition to Sehgal's choreographed situations as presented in museums around the world. At Tanz im August, three different artists will dance (untitled) (2000) in three different locations: HAU 1, 2, and 3. Dancing: Boris Charmatz, Frank Willens, and Andrew Hardwidge.
