The political and cultural upheavals in Turkey and the surrounding regions are the occasion for a survey exhibition, organized by the Neuer Berliner Kunstverein and the art space Tanas. It will take place within the framework of the Berlin Art Week and abc–art berlin contemporary, and will look into the question of what effects the process of modernisation over the past 20 years has had on aesthetic practice. Accompanying the exhibition will be a comprehensive performance programme at HAU Hebbel am Ufer. Artists and musicians from various generations will research the materiality of geographical and symbolic in-between-spaces–of transit–working out new perspectives on the relationship between viewer, work, and space. The result will be a multi-faceted and genre-breaking programme that goes well beyond the traditional forms of cultural representation.
