The international literature festival Berlin (ilb) calls on all individuals, institutions, schools and media outlets that care about justice and freedom to participate in a worldwide reading in support of Ashraf Fayadh, on 14 January 2016. HAU Hebbel am Ufer will host the ilb event in Berlin.

After an introduction by Ulrich Schreiber and Annemie Vanackere the Chinese writer, poet, and musician Liao Yiwu will perform his poem “Massacre”. The Iraqi writer Fadhil Al-Azzawi, who now lives in Germany, will read Fayadh’s poem “Frida Kahlo’s Moustache” in Arabic, followed by a reading by the speaker Frank Arnold. In closing there will be a discussion (in English) between Adania Shibli, Ulrike Freitag and Peter Schneider, moderated by Priya Basil.
