Biografie

Brenda Dixon-Gottschild ist freie Autorin, Consultant, Performerin, Dozentin und ehemalige Consultant und Autorin für Dance Magazine. Sie ist Professor Emeritus für Tanzwissenschaften an der Temple University und die Autorin von "Digging the Africanist Presence in American Performance: Dance and Other Contexts", "Waltzing in the Dark: African American Vaudeville and Race Politics in the Swing Era", "The Black Dancing Body - A Geography from Coon to Cool", und "Joan Myers Brown and The Audacious Hope of the Black Ballerina - a Biohistory of American Performance". 

Brenda Dixon-Gottschild wurde mehrfach ausgezeichnet, unter anderem mit dem "Pennyslvania Legislative Black Caucus Civil Rights Award" (2016), dem "International Association for Blacks in Dance Outstanding Scholar Award", dem "Congress on Research in Dance Award for Outstanding Leadership in Dance Research" (2008), dem "Torre Bueno Prize" für wissenschaftliche Exzellenz im Tanzbereich (2004) und dem "Congress on Research in Dance Award for Outstanding Scholarly Dance Publication" (2001).
