Niels Bormann studied performing arts from 1996 to 1999 at the Berlin University of the Arts. After completing his studies, he worked as an actor in Buenos Aires, Shanghai, Accra, Lagos, Richmond (Virginia) as well as in Germany, including at HAU Hebbel am Ufer and for many years with the group Lubricat at Sophiensaelel in Berlin. Along with guest appearances at the Schauspielhaus Hamburg, Deutsches Theater Berlin, Gorki Theater, and the Volksbühne Berlin he was a permanent ensemble member at the Schaubühne Berlin from 2009 to 2013, and from 2015 to 2017 at the Munich Kammerspiele. In addition to numerous film and television projects he has been teaching at the University of the Arts Berlin since 2010. “Kluge Gefühle“ at HAU Hebbel am Ufer is his directorial debut.
