Océan LeRoy

Biography

After his debut as a drag performer at the Océan LeRoy has been attracting attention with his multimedia performances with video, song and slam poetry, appearing in Berlin, New York, Jakarta and Vancouver. He received a nomination at the Mix! Film Festival in Brazil, and won the Kings Village Contest in Italy and the Trav’Academy in France. Numerous articles have appeared about him in magazines such as Têtu and Les Inrockuptibles. LeRoy deliberately assumes a position between man and woman, musician and performer, artist and dance. A documentary portraying him, “Risk, Stretch or Die”, has been shown at many international film festivals. LeRoy has played both men's and women's roles in a variety of films, including “Lost in Generations”, “Fucking Different” and “Mummy is coming”, all of which were screened at the Berlin International Film Festival. In2014 he was seen performing at HAUHebbel am Ufer in “T/HE/Y” by Josep Caballero Garcia. The play will be revived in 2016.
