The diagnosis is clear: the shift to the right is real, the fascistisation of society is advancing – and so is the outrage over it. Yet there is a gaping chasm between analysis and action. “Gegenmacht. A Crash Course in Democratic Offence”, the new discussion series organised by HAU Hebbel am Ufer in collaboration with FragDenStaat, aims to bridge this gap and take a step further towards concrete anti-fascism.
To this end, the series brings activists onto the HAU stage who probe systems for their vulnerabilities, view transparency as a means of defence, use the law as an instrument of resistance, and create a public sphere where none exists: Alongside the FragDenStaat team, whistleblowers, campaigners, litigants, comedians, YouTubers and TikTokers will not only talk about fascism, but also demonstrate how it can be undermined.
What concrete courses of action are available? What, for example, are trade unions doing about AfD members in their own ranks? Where does the anti-war movement stand? “Gegenmacht. A Crash Course for a Democratic Offensive” not only asks the questions that are missing, but also brings together those who have already put the answers into practice – and shows us how we ourselves can launch a counter-offensive.
