Au-delà de l’humain

Tanz im August

Zora Snake’s dances sound out the borders of the known. They are expeditions into the unknown, exploring the post-colonial African body in the space where performing arts, urban dance and African dance intersect. Snake’s piece “Au-delà de l’humain” (Beyond the Human) takes up the idea that in every human being there is a special talent striving to reveal itself. Through ritual dances, the Cameroonian artist seeks out the bodily freedom that enables this self-realisation – and faces off against the social injustice that stands in its way.
