With “Mailles” Rwandan-British choreographer, singer and author Dorothée Munyaneza gathers on stage with five women who, as poets, performance artists, flamenco dancers, singers and choreographers, have inspired her in a multitude of ways. Living dispersed across the globe and stemming from mixed cultural backgrounds, they are part of the diaspora, each of them African or of African descent: Haitian, Rwandan, Danish born Somali, Ethiopian living in the Netherlands and British. They are united by their stories of adversity and resilience. Interweaving their distinct voices in a universal tale, Munyaneza captures in them the beauty of an undefeated, feminine force of creation.
