A camera crew of women are outside filming another woman

The connection between the women around the Arab theme table of the Quartiersmanagement (neighbourhood management) on Mehringplatz and HAU Hebbel am Ufer has a long history. In the project “Durch unsere Augen” (Through Our Eyes), these women act as authors, directors and image and sound designers of their own films. Together with filmmaker Therese Koppe, they learnt about film techniques by watching films together over a longer period of time. The aim was to appropriate the medium of film as an empowering means of creation and expression. The resulting documentary and essayistic film draws on the women’s own experiences, everyday realities, challenges and joys in urban Berlin. The film premiered at HAU1 in February 2024.
