Dancing with our Neighbours

  • Theatre
Arabic /  German /  English /  Farsi /  With German translation /  With English translation /  Turkish /  approx. 90 mins.

I know I am different from you. We have different beliefs, different experiences, different languages and bank account balances, and the world receives and labels us in different ways. But we are all here to dance – together or alone – to defy a world that is in the process of tearing itself apart by polarizing us. Can we still come together – especially now?

For their 30th anniversary, Gob Squad want to share their collective practice, stage and authorship and take neighbours from Mehringplatz to the dance floor. Based on the rules of their performance "Dancing About", where every individual confession is turned into a dance, they search each night anew in unusual constellations: What brings them together and what divides them? In a performative disco, they honestly and playfully explore questions of identity and celebrate their diversity and similarities through dance.

If I say: "We are poorer than our parents" – will you dance along?
