How is the hidden logic of artificial intelligence systems changing our world? Interrobang turns the audience itself into part of a learning system: as ‘tokens’, the participants influence a human-machine AI through their movements and responses. Play the system before it plays you!
Interrobang is known for its participatory formats, which explore digital technology in the theatre through play. Now the Berlin-based group is ‘hacking’ the theatre’s black box to shed light on the darkness of AI black boxes. Together with the audience, Interrobang is building a human-machine AI that can only exist in the theatre. To do this, the participants themselves become “tokens”: the small building blocks that AI systems use to perform calculations. Through movements, responses and positioning within the space, a learning system emerges. Come into Interrobang’s black box and experience how machine logic connects, isolates or transforms us.
