What socio-political effects does artificial intelligence (AI) have on identity and society? The workshop “I saw things AI imagined” deals with the politics of representation in relation to AI-based avatars and bots. There will be a particular focus on discrimination and stereotyping.

To understand the social impact of AI, it is crucial to recognise that AI systems are fundamentally socio-technical and encompass the social context in which they are developed, used and interact.

During the workshop, participants will gain theoretical and practical experience: What is the infrastructure behind AI bots/assistants? How can you build one?

The HAU4 research platform sees itself as a place of encounter and exchange. As part of its digital research, HAU regularly organises discussion formats, workshops, labs and networking events here. Janne Kummer and Anton Krause are important partners in this endeavour and will hold their next workshop at HAU after 2022. Their successful multiplayer game “A Travelogue of Morphing Bodies” can still be played at HAU4.

Janne Kummer is also developing a multimedia performance for autumn 2024 that looks back on 70 years of AI development and will transform HAU into a “Haunted House”.
